Resort Review: Plantation Bay Resort & Spa

day tour at Plantation Bay Resort & Spa.

Plantation Bay is a resort in Cebu I've always been wanting to go to after seeing it in TV shows.

On my Cebu itinerary, we are supposed to go to Camotes Island for an overnight trip but due to the storm, there has been a lot of people trying to get to Camotes Island. We've been waiting for quite some time without the assurance of getting a ride (and it's supposed to be my last 2 days in Cebu) so instead of taking a chance which seems unlikely, we decided to change plans.

We looked up a lot of places online near Cebu City where we can go and came across hotel day tours being offered by big hotel chains. That's where we came across the day tour being offered by Plantation Bay.

HOW TO BOOK A DAY TOUR:
  • Day Tour is priced @ Php 2,500 net.
  • Since it's a last minute decision, we decided to call first to check if they can accommodate 2 persons for the next day.
  • The day tour is on a reservation basis so make sure you call beforehand. The receptionist told us that since we're only 2, no need to reserve and we can just go there directly. Payment will be made also upon arrival.
  • Their website doesn’t really allow a direct reservation for a day tour so the only way to reserve is to call or email them through inquiry@plantationbay.com or call them through +63 32 236 9040.

DAY TOUR INCLUSIONS:
  • Lunch and choice of drink
  • Access to lagoons and swimming pools
  • Shower and changing facilities
  • Activities such as wall climbing, archery, foosball, air hockey and table tennis
  • 30-minute use of bicycles
  • 15-minute use of non-motorized aqua sports facilities (Stand-up Paddle Board or Kayak)
For more information, you may check this link.

HOW TO GET THERE:
  • By private car: If using Waze, search “Plantation Bay Resort & Spa”.
  • By public transportation: From SM City Cebu, we rode the shuttle bus going to the Airport for Php25. Then rode a taxi going to Plantation Bay (think it cost us Php200-300). *Note: We are unsure how best to come here but thought this might be the easiest way to avoid any inconvenience.

Upon arriving at the resort, we went straight to the reception and mentioned we are there for a day tour. We were just asked for our basic contact details and paid Php 2,500. We were then given a map, our lunch pass, and a towel coupon and then we were then given our day tour wristbands. The receptionist is really nice and explained to us where we will go for the shower room, where we get our towels and all the places we can access and avail of the day tour inclusions. The process is smooth and it was a fast transaction which we really appreciate.

Looking at the map, you'll see that the whole place is huge and there's so much stuff to do and enjoy.

Getting inside the resort, we were welcomed by this scenic view. Who would have though you're still in the Philippines looking at this. It really feels like I'm at a different place and is so amazed.
View upon entering the resort

My best friend and I decided to go around the resort first and do some activities/take pictures before swimming. Sharing with you some of the instagrammable locations and pictures we took in the resort.

Route 66 Diner
You may also eat at this place.
We're supposed to try this before we go but it closes early.
They also got a slide! Kids and kids at heart will surely love this!
Who would've thought I'm standing at cement?
This place looks like I'm standing on sand an on an island.

On my back is the mini golf course.

Gazebo

Now, this looks like I'm in an islet.

Here are also some videos I took to make you get a glimpse of what you can see inside the resort.

For lunch included in the day tour pass, it was for a lunch at Kilimanjaro Kafe.
We were surprised that the offered lunch is a buffet and not a set meal so we really had a feast. There is limited food options and e had lunch a bit late so some of the food already ran out and we had to wait for a bit for it to be refilled.
Note: They will ask you to dry up first before entering the kafe so you might need to cover up yourself when you have lunch.
The seat we had offers a really good view while eating, the best way to have lunch.

Other activities to do:
  • Archery (included in day tour pass)
    • This is actually something that made me excited because I liked archery. They will teach you how to do it but since I'm already familiar, they just gave me reminders.
  • Biking (included in day tour pass)
    • The pass includes a 30-minute bike rental which we availed before we go home while killing time.
  • Children's Playground (included in day tour pass)
  • Gym and Game Room
    • They have a game room where you can play for reasonable rates.
  • Kayak/Stand Up Paddle Board (included in day tour pass)
    • The pass includes 15-minute use of the Kayak or the Stand Up Paddle Board. Since we are two, we decided to use 15 minutes for the paddle board and 15 minutes kayaking. Just a note not to do it when the sun is really up or you'll get a really bad sunburn.

  • Mini Golf (included in day tour pass)
    • We haven't tried
  • Spa
    • This is a paid activity, you can just go to the Mogambo Springs to avail.
    • Check out their website for the services offered: https://plantationbay.com/spa/
  • Wall climbing (included in day tour pass)
    • This is under maintenance when we went there so we weren't able to try.

Overall, our experience is fun and we found what we paid for is worth it for the whole day tour. It is quite costly but I assure you, the experience itself is one for the books. Even my best friend who is living in Cebu told me, "I never thought there is such a place like this in Cebu."

With the experience we had, my best friend and I promised ourselves that the next time I visit Cebu, we will also try out the other day tour packages being offered by hotels in Mactan. Until the next best friend trip!
