Resort Review: The Cabin Resorts
The Cabin Resorts

With the quarantine restrictions imposed due to COVID-19, a lot of people are staying in their own homes. It has been 14 months since the lockdown started and during the past months, there has been a lot of changes in the restrictions which made it harder for us to travel.

I was supposed to go to this resort for my birthday celebration last March but due to the sudden announcement of ECQ a day before my supposed booking date in this resort, we had to push it back to this month.

Since I got my furbaby with me, and with the travel requirements, I had to look up resorts that not only allows pets but those that makes it easier to travel and it had to be somewhere near as it's hard to travel far away with the NCR bubble travel restriction is in place. The resort is located in San Miguel, Bulacan and they did not require any tests, just a temperature check and signing a health declaration form.

HOW TO BOOK:
Room inclusions:
  • Breakfast meal (can be served in their restaurant and can be served inside the cabin)
  • Free use of activities (kayaking, biking, archery, swimming, fishing. For fishing, you may purchase the fish per kilo for P150 or have them cooked fried or grilled for P150/kilo)
  • Free parking and pick-up service from Gulf gas station in San Miguel, Bulacan.
  • 1 pet is allowed at the resort for free
For more information about the resort, you may check it out on their website.

HOW TO GET THERE:
  • For private car: If using Waze, search "Puregold San Miguel". If you go a little more, you will be able to see Gulf Gas station. There are 2 Gulf gas stations in Bulacan but you'll know you're at the right place since you can see the parking area in the gas station with The Cabin Resorts' logo. From there, they will pick you up, either through convoy or through their shuttle service going inside the resort as Waze doesn't provide accurate location at this time due to the on-going road construction.
Note: Only SUVs are allowed inside the resort. If you are bringing a sedan, they have a designated parking slot in Gulf Gas station and has a shuttle service going inside the resort

Traveling time from Makati took us about 4 hours. We encountered a slight delay as there is traffic due to some road works in Bulacan. Upon arriving at Gulf gas station, we only informed them that were there and it took them a few minutes for the convoy going to the resort to come. They only check our names, and did not require me to show a proof of reservation anymore.

Upon arriving at the resort, they have our temperature checked and had us sign the health declaration form as well the resort's house rules and waiver form which they have already sent to my email when I booked the cabin. They also explained all the house rules. What I liked about the resort is that any purchases you made during your stay and any additional payments for extra pax will be paid upon check out so there's no hassle upon checking in.

We booked a loft cabin since we're a group of 7.
Loft Cabin (P15,000 for 6 pax)
Good for 6 pax (max occupancy of 8)

What I like about this resort is they only have a few cabins, they have 5 loft cabins and a few Couple Cabins making it a great choice to stay during this time since we're avoiding crowded places. I felt safe during the stay and not having to worry about getting the virus since you almost don't get to cross paths with the people also staying in the resort.

An honest review, the resort is great. Just want to share some some pros and cons we encountered during our stay.
  • Pros
    • Clean rooms, complete with towels and toiletries
    • There's so many free activities you can do during your stay
    • Not crowded
    • Food and drinks is not overpriced considering they do not allow cooking of food, price ranges between 250-400 per order. Cocktails at P150/glass, and a bottle of Johnnie Walker is P1,400 which is not far from store prices.
    • Friendly staff
    • You can just text the reception for any concerns and they reply fast. You can also just text the restaurant for any orders which they can deliver inside the cabin.
  • Cons:
    • There are a lot of frogs at night (maybe because the resort is in the middle of a rice field) and there are a lot of ants in the balcony.
    • When it rained hard, water is coming inside the cabin but they immediately brought us rugs when we raised our concern.
    • They asked for advance order for our breakfast the night before but our food arrived late and our orders are not accurate the way we ordered it (but we did not mind since we're already hungry).

Activities offered:
  • Swimming
  • Kayaking
  • Archery
  • Biking
  • Fishing
  • ATV and Bonfire (w/ additional fee)

Overall, we had a great stay at the resort. It has been a while since we last traveled so it was nice to get out and have a breathe of fresh air in the middle of a rice paddy.
